Doodles say it all

my cat doodles.
One of the workshops of the upcoming Scottish Association of Writers-conference that grabbed my attention instantly was 'Leaving room for pictures' by Morag Hood. She is a children's book illustrator and author. I cannot draw but am a star doodler. Does that count?
For my upcoming book My name is Wilma, I can imagine photos will be used. I love photos in fiction books that are based on real life.

But since I read about the workshop on illustrations, I have been thinking about my doodles. Hundreds of cat doodles are waiting in boxes. I have always doodled cats and the occasional chook. I might have thrown away journals, or diaries as we called them back in the day, but my doodles are saved and safe. They have helped me get through tedious meetings and they say more about how I was doing at the time than a complete journal...

I am hoping to attend Morag's workshop this weekend and think how I could use my doodles in my poetry maybe, or add them to Wilma's story... I will keep you posted!
